Selective Tape-Laying for Cost-Effective Manufacturing of Optimised Multi-Material Components

Bespoke Equipment Design for Manufacture of FRP Tape

NetComposites have carried out a technical review of the company’s current capabilities for manufacturing fibre reinforced thermoplastic pultruided profiles. This activity has enabled identification of equipment upgrades and development that are required in order to meet the FRP tape requirements of the Stellar Project.

Equipment development has been schemed out with several bespoke items being designed in-house specifically for the Stellar Project. Orders have been placed for the required new equipment and materials, with items already being received by NetComposites, assembly of the upgrades is to commence over the coming weeks to ensure the new capability will be operational for preliminary FRP tape manufacturing runs by the end of the current project quarter.
